Does anyone know how big is the double bed in
Red Dragon
is? We are travelling with a 2 year old boy and wonder if the
bed/room is big enough for the 3 of us. Thanks

I suggest you book the biggest room in
Red Dragon, room number 200.
The other room is only half as big as the room 200, and it'll be
pretty crampy for 2 adults and one kid.

Hi,
is there anybody who took a 2 days/1 night tour with the
Red Dragon
Junk ? I read that they don't visit the caves ? Is it a "Must" to
see the caves ?
My wish is to make a good tour in a boat which has the ambiance of
the ancient junks ? Can you recommend me one ?
Thank you so much.
Best regards German Chris

Trying to decide which junk to take...I know there are many thing
already written.
It seems the Red
Dragon/Lagoon Explorer take little bit different routes
than the others.
Do the tours include time to kayak and if so is the kayak price
included in the total price?
Thanks for any help on this or reviews on these junks!!!

If you just want one of these two,
Red Dragon Junk is so much better
in all ways although the
Lagoon Explorer is a very nice
junk. Brand new boat, better cabins...Lagoon Explorer has half day
cruise in Bai Tu Long Bay and half day cruise in Halong Bay. There
will be cave visit. They anchor in Halong Bay near Trong cave, the
same place with the
Bhaya and some other junks. On
Lagoon
Explorer, you will have to pay for kayaking experience.
Red Dragon cruise full time in Bai Tu Long Bay and you will have
plenty of time kayaking without surcharge as it is included in the
price. This cruise route is far better than the normal Halong Bay
route just in my opinion) as there will be just you in the Bay
.However, if you are cave lover it will not be the best choice as
Red Dragon
does not provide any cave visit.
Hi my husband and I are going to be on this Junk on November (we've
already booked). We did heaps and heaps of research before making
the choice. However, the point about no cave visit, I am not too
sure of.....if you see the website below it has an itinerary of a 3
day, 2 night stay and on the 3rd day it does indeed mention a trip
to sung sot cave if you wish (2nd website link. So that's how we
read it....I certainly hope so! :o)

We did in fact book this junk and I think we will be on it the same
time as you...or your second night as we are only going for one
night.
Thanks for the info!!

JanetC,
We are sure that the 2 boats run the same itinerary. Last year,
Lagoon Explorer started the trip from Hon Gai port, cruising through
Bai Tu Long area, the second day, you will visit Sung Sot cave.
However, the tour operation has found out that Vong Vieng fishing
village is worth to see. Now,
Lagoon Explorer, Princess,
Red Dragon
are on the same route.
However, tours are carefully designed and arranged, you will not see
other boats on the way.
Actually, Vong Vieng village is still in Halong bay area, not in Bai
Tu Long bay. But this tour reaches the village by a new route.
The sea is very calm, water is clear and the beaches are clean.
Those are all advantages of the tours run by the 3 mentioned junk
boats.
Nice time
