Just arrived in Hanoi...had booked Red Dragon for 2d/1n for
tomorrow, but turns out we were the only booking, so they want to
substitute Princess...no increase in cost. Its me (mom) and my 23 yr
old son. Has anyone any input...I need to let them know in later
today!
Many Thanks!!

Don't worry Catgirl123. In fact you are lucky. The
Red Dragon
has 5 cabins for quite a big group of 10 people while the Princess
has only 1 cabin because it was designed for honeymooners. That's
why they change you to the smaller boat. You are lucky to try a
small luxury boat without surcharge and will be served all things in
a warm and private atmosphere.
This boat belongs to
First Choice & Indochina Junk company, one of the first
and professional boat company in Halong Bay so you can trust them
totally.

Hi. Could anyone recommend an overnight cruise on Halong Bay? I have
heard a few horror stories of food poisoning and insects galore. We
would just like to go on something a little intimate and spend the
night on the bay, without paying the earth if at all possible!

Hi,
We just completed a 3 day 2 night Handspan trip and were very happy
with it. Yes, it was a tad pricy, but we left it to the last minute
literally. Bottom line $US348 for 2.
Friendly Vietnamese staff, group of 12, professional outfit (not
like Peregrine's or World Expedition but getting there), good boat
but don't expect a luxury yacht although you can pay more for those
if need be, excellent food and staff. Cosy twin beds no doubles.
Arriving at Halong Bay moorings is a bit of a circus, but once we
hit the water we travelled to a quieter area away from the other
boats. Beautiful....polluted waters here and there but beautiful.
Second day, kayaking for about 4-5hrs all up. Brilliant fun. Stayed
overnight in a very dapper hotel. Cat Ba Sunrise Resort hotel....top
floor with stupendous views of the private beach.
Once again, I'm sure it can be done cheaper but with the ease of
someone else dealing with the Circus of Halong Bay, it's one less
thing to sort out for yourself without feeling swindled.
Cheers
